Our purpose is to convert agro-industrial waste into high-value solutions, driving a circular and sustainable economy that benefits both the natural environment and producing communities.
We don't just design materials; we design impact.
HOW WE DO IT
We apply an open innovation model based on three fundamental pillars:
1. Applied Research (R+i):
We develop high-performance carbonaceous materials, validated through advanced scientific methods.
2. Interdisciplinary Collaboration
We combine mechanical engineering, chemistry, and materials science with the local knowledge of agricultural communities.
3. Circularity and Sustainability
We promote processes that regenerate soil, purify water, and reduce emissions, with full traceability of the origin of each biomass.
Every NanoMOF product is born from a balance between technical precision and environmental commitment.
Our Story
NanoMOF emerged as an academic and technological initiative developed at the Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana (UPB) and the GINUMA group, with the support of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and international collaboration with the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU).
The project evolved from carbonaceous materials research to the creation of a laboratory specialized in biomass, advanced pyrolysis, and chemical activation, with the goal of scaling sustainable solutions to an industrial level.
Our Track Record
Years of Experience
Over 5 years of research in pyrolysis, activation, and materials characterization.
Experience in projects with universities, companies, and international cooperation entities.
Awards and Recognition
Finalist in sustainable innovation and scientific entrepreneurship initiatives.
Participation in technological development calls and circular economy projects.
Winners of the 22nd edition of seed capital. Supported by CREAME and organized by the Medellín City Council.
Theses and Projects
NanoMOF was born as a result of a multidisciplinary degree project that integrated engineering, sustainability, and rural development.
Currently, we continue to develop applied research lines with a real impact in Colombian and Latin American territories.
From academia to the lab, from the lab to the world
Our Team
Our team is comprised of engineers, scientists, and technicians specialized in:
Mechanical engineering and thermochemical process design.
Materials science and advanced characterization (FTIR, TGA, SEM, CHONS, ICP).
Innovation, sustainable development, and technology transfer.
We combine knowledge, creativity, and purpose to create a measurable and lasting impact.
Strategic Alliances
We believe in collaboration as the path toward sustainability.
